THE CURRENT EPIDEMIC Lead poisoning is the foremost environmental problem and preventable disease in children. Over 3,000,000 U.S. children under age seven have hazardous levels of lead in their blood — one child out of every Six. : Low level lead exposures in children cause IQ reductions, attention span deficits, reading and learning disabilities, and behavior problems.
