Nabrit, III Board of School Commissioner of Mobile County, Alabama, et al. vs. Birdie Mae Davis, et al., and United States of America July 17, 1969 The LDF filed this school segregation case in Mobile, Alabama in March 1963. Since then, this case has been taken to the court of appeals six times. We think that the Supreme Court action today means that the Mobile school board must stop its delaying tactics and complete the desegregation process this year. The LDF, along with its local attorney Vernon Crawford of Mobile will push for prompt compliance with the court order. We think the action by Supreme Court Justice Black has national significance in that the Supreme Court is not at all backing away from its view that the law requires school desegregation now.
