Pursuant to Rule 32 of the Rules of the Supreme Court, I am lodging with you today maps 

of the 1992 and 1997 North Carolina congressional redistricting plans. These maps are lodged for 

possible use by counsel during argument and for the convenience of the Court. Incidentally, 

maps of the 1992 and 1997 plans appear at pages 59a and 61a of the Jurisdictional Statement 

which state appellants filed some months ago.
