ATTORNEYS OF THE NAACP LEGAL DEFENSE AND EDUCATIONAL FUND, INC. (LDF) WILL

_ FILE A BRIEF WITH THE U.S. COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FIFTH CIRCUIT IN NEW
ORLEANS FRIDAY, JUNE 28, ON BEHALF @ WILLIE POWELL, A FLORIDA PAROLEE.
POWELL'S PAROLE WAS REVOKED BY THE FLORIDA PAROLE COMMISSION ALTHOUGH HE i
HAD BEEN ACOUITED OF RAPE BY A PALM BEACH JURY IN APRIL 1967. LDF ATTORNEYS
CONTEND THAT THE FLORIDA PAROLE COMMISSION DENIES PAROLE PROCEDURES WHEN
IT CONSIDERS WHETHER TO REVOKE PAROLE. ‘THE ATTORNEYS SAY THAT THE CASE
CHALLENGES THE PREVAILING REVOCATION PROCEDURES OF MOST PAROLE COMMISSIONS
IN THE NATION.
