FIELD FOUNDATION GIVES $30,000 
GRANT TO NAACP LEGAL DEFENSE FUND May 10, 1956 

NEW YORK.--The Field Foundation of New York has made a $30,000 

grant to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., to help 

further the organization's legal effort to secure justice and equal- 

ity for all Americans without regard to race or color. 

The grant covers a 2-month period beginning May 1, 1956, and is 

given in two payments of $15,000 each. 

The Field Foundation was established in 190 by Mr, Marshall 

Field and seeks to improve intercultural and interracial relations. 

Past grants made to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund have enabled the 

organization to make great inroads against the barriers of discrimi- 

nation in several areas of American life. 

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is headed by 

Thurgood Marshall.
