Re: Cromartie v. Hunt

Dear Morgan:

Thank you for agreeing to serve as an expert in Cromartie v. Hunt. As we

discussed, we would like you perform an expert analysis of the history of discrimination

and political exclusion in North Carolina. As we agreed, we will compensate you at the

rate of 150.00 per hour. We are in the process of discussing the discovery and trial

schedule with opposing counsel, but it appears that expert reports will be due sometime

mid-August with the trial taking place mid-October. Of course, I will contact you once

we finalize these dates.

As you requested, enclosed please find copies of the transcripts of legislative

debates and public hearings held during the redistricting process leading to the creation of

the redistricting plan at issue in this case. I will forward copies of the expert reports filed

thus far in this case under separate cover.

I look forward to working with you. Please let me know if you require any

additional information. I look forward to talking with you soon. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

6
Todd A. Cox
