NEW YORK, N.Y¥., March 24 - Following is a statement
issued by Jack Greenberg, Director-Counsel of the NAACP
Legal Defense and Educational Fund in connection with today's
decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in Franks v. Bowman.
"The U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Franksvv. Bowman
assures that black victims of racial discrimination will be
put in their rightful place, not at the bottom of seniority
ladders where they are vulnerable to last-hired, first-fired
practices which have afflicted minority workers until now."
The case was accepted for review by the Supreme Court

The NAACP Legal Defense Fund is a completely separate
organization even though originally established by the NAACP
in 1939. Its correct designation is NAACP Legal Defense and
Educational Fund, Inc., frequently shortened to Legal Defense
Fund.
