UNOPPOSED MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF DISCOVERY DEADLINE
NOW COME, Plaintiff-Intervenors, Houston Lawyers
Association, Alice Bonner, Weldon Berry, Francis Williams, Rev.
William Lawson, Deloyd T. Parker and Bennie McGinty, and
respectfully move this Court for an order extending the deadline
for discovery until September 8, 1989, and as grounds therefore,
state the following:
XI.
The Court has ordered that all discovery is to be completed
by September 5, 1989. The Joint Pre-Trial Order is to be filed
on September 11, 1989. Trial is to commence on September 18,
1989.
1X.
The parties have engaged in extensive discovery. However,
discovery cannot be completed by September 5, 198%. Depositions
are scheduled by the Defendant-Intervenor Wood for August 30 and
31, 1989. The Defendants wish to take depositions on September
6, 1989. Plaintiff-Intervenors have requested the deposition of
Defendant-Intervenor Wood, however, the exact date has not been
set in order to accommodate the schedule of Intervenor-Wood.
11.
The extension of discovery for a three day period, until
September 8, 1989, will not delay the trial of this case. All
parties agree that discovery should be extended until September
8.1989.
WHEREFORE, for all the foregoing reasons, Plaintiff-
Intervenors pray that this Court enter an order directing that
the parties shall have until September 8, 1989, to complete
discovery.
Respectfully submitted,
et. £-
