Raney v. Gould, Ark.
Monroe v. Jackson, Tenn. aonroe v- Jackson, Tenn

The Supreme Court has now made it clear that the time for

deliberate speed has expired. These decisions, won by LDF attorneys,

will be extremely useful in stepping up the pace of desegregation,

The LDF will immediately reopen most of our 200 pending school

desegregation cases across the South. This is one of the few times

since 1955 that the Court has involved itself in the details of

desegregation plans.

As a result of this litigation, the Department of Health,

Education and Welfare must require performance according to the new

higher standards.
