RE: New Legal Attack on Housing Discrimination 

LAUNCH LEGAL ATTACK ON 
HOUSING DISCRIMINATION 

NEW BERN, N, C,---A hearing for a declaratory judgement and for an 

injunction against the Housing Authority of the city of New Bern 

will be held in the Federal District Court of the New Bern, North 

Carolina Division, Friday, March 25th at 10 A. M. 

Attorneys of the NAACP Legal Defense Fundwill argue that the 

Housing Authority is using leases, which are in violation of the 

U, S. Constitution; unfair negotiations with tenants; is 

evicting tenants without granting fair hearings; evicting tenants 

on grounds that they have illegitimate children; segregating on the 

basis of race, charging Negro tenants more; and failing to accept 

tenants on grounds that their children are under two years of age. 

These and other alleged violations will be stressed by the 

attorneys. 

This is the first case of its kind.
