Of the Abernathy case he said, "This victory * wipes out one of the last vestiges of the freedom ride prosecutions of 1961. Still pending are hundreds of cases in Mississippi which Mississippi authorities have insisted upon trying one by one and in which more than $372,000.00 bond money is tied up in Mississippi banks.* ~ Of the McKinnie case, Mr. Greenberg stated, :"This isthe 26th: sit-in - decision in the Supreme Court of the United States, all of which have \ been won by the young people who courageously awakened the conscience of ~ the nation. We are still engaged in cleaning up 3,000 such convictions in ower courts.
