Release of 13 members of the Black Panther Party will be sought through
oral argument Wednesday, August 13, at 2:15 p.m. at U.S. District Court,
Foley Square, before Judge Edmund Palmieri. LDF Assistant Counsel
Elizabeth DuBois, in an unusual move, will argue the LDF's amicus brief.
Copies of the brief and a background statement on the use of bail as
a means of preventive detention in New York City are available by
contacting the LDF.
