RE: LOUISIANA CONGRESSTONAL REAPPORTIONMENT, 1981
.Dear Mr. Jones:
I am one of the attorneys for the plaintiffs in a suit now pending in the
U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana challenging Act
20 of the special session of the Louisiana Legilstature, 1981, pertinent to
Reapportionment of thé Congressional Districts for Louisiana. The plan under
attack was precleared by the Justice Department on June 18, 1982.
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I respectfully request that we be
glven a copy of any and all Memoranda generated by your office concerning this
matter. I'm also sending a copy of this request to Freedom of Information Act
Officer, but I request that you respond as soon as possible to this request,
inasmuch as litigation on this subject will be going to trial within the next
thirty (38) days. 4
