Lesar@renseH. March L9, 1985 Ms. Janet. L. Knach Davis, Mj-ner, Barnhill & Galland, P.C. 14 West Erie Street Chicago, Illinois 60610 RE: Ketchum v. Byrne Dear Ms. Knach: I enclose a copy of my September 25, 1984 letter to Jud.d l"liner offering to contribute $3500.00 to the appeal of the case. I never received a response to the offer, which was condj-tioned on LDF' being able to assume a visible, public role in the case. I realize that, with the matter now pending in the Supreme Court and costs escalating, this modest contribution may not in your view justify LDFrs desire for a presence in this case. Given our cur- rent financial situation, however, it reflects our best efforts. Please let me know if your firm acquieses to these terms.
