MEMORANDUM TO: EDITORS September 11, 1964

SUBJECT: School Integration in Jackson, Miss.
Forty-three Negro youngsters are slated to enter inte-
grated public schools Monday, September 14th, in Mississippi.
This is the result of many months of Legal Defense Fund activi-
ty. This campaign was originally engineered by Constance Baker
Motley, associate counsel of the Fund. Mrs. Motley is now
sharing a great deal of this responsibility with Assistant
Counsel Derrick Bell.
Enclosed are several items for your utilization.
They are being released from Jackson Monday, September
14th, t», hopefully, be used in Tuesday, September 15th edi-
tions.
