PRINCE HALL MASONIC SHRINERS 
PRESENT $3,000 CHECK TO DEFENSE FUND 

January 23, 1963 

NEW YORK -- The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund received this 

week a $3,000 donation from the Prince Hall Masonic Shriners. 

The check, presented to Director-Counsel Jack Greenberg and 

Associate Counsel Constance Baker Motley in the Fund offices in New 

York, represented the annual Shriner contribution to the NAACP Legal 

Research Department. 

Charles A, Dargan, National Director of the Prince Hall legal 

fund drive, in presenting the check, said "we are fully cognizant of, 

and vigorously applaud the tremendous battle being waged in the area 

of first-class citizenship for all. We pledge ourselves to even 

greater support of the leaders of this fine organization, of which we 

are part and parcel." 

At the presentation were Leon Berry, Deputy Imperial Potentate, 

New York State; W. C, Kilpatrick, Advisor, Imperial Council; Elmer 

A, Carter, Public Relations, Prince Hall Lodge, New York; Baxter F. 

Jackson and Rev. David Licorish, Medina Temple; Rufus Allen, Alfred 

Fields and Robert Taylor, Abu Bekr Temple, Brooklyn; and Kenneth 

Rhone, musical director. 

Mr. Greenberg cited the Prince Hall Shriners for their continued 

annual support of the Legal Defense Fund and its activities.
