That Lexington Stiondange: Center, Ambrose, and Lexington School be zoned to form the Lexington Schon ZOorTiC . A. That the Lexington Attendance Center serve c= grades 5-12 for all students po ai ins in the Lexington zone. B. That the Lexington School serve grades l-4 for all students residing in the Lexington zone . : gO. That Ambrose be closed as an elementary school and reopened for administrative and/ or special education classes." ~ That Paragraph # 2 on page # 3 and continued on page # 4 <o Co & 5 of said Appendix 16 be, and is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows: - % na. That the Durant Attendance Center and Goodinan - Pickens Flementary be zoned to form the Durant zone . ® A. That Durant Attendance Center serve grades 1-12 for all students residing in this pro- posed zone except that Goodman-Pickens Ele- mentary be zoned to approximate capacity to serve all students in grades 1-8." It is further ordered by the Court that the Durant Muni - cipal Separate School District, of the City of Durant, Holmes County, State of Mississippi, created by ordinance enacted by said City on the 26th day of January, 1970, and thereafter approved by the State Educational Finance Commission of the State of Mississippi, and which district removes and subtracts its geographical area from the Holmes County School District and removes approximately 360 Negro students and 260 white students, previously assigned to schools in the Holmes County School District by the order of this Court of November 7; 1969, be and the formation of said district is hereby approved and confirmed by this Court under the following terus and conditions: x 1. That as long as said Durant Municipal Separate School District is in existence the Board of Trustees of said district shall never have less than two Negro members appointed and serving upon said five member Board of Trustees; the Negro members of said Board of Trustees to be selected and recommended by the Negro community of the City of Durant, and upon such recommendation to be appointed to the Board of Trust- ecs by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Durant. 2. That as long as said Durant Municipal Separate School District ds in existence, the Principal of said school shall be a Negro, and that the responsibili Jud : | ties and duties of said Principal will conform to those prescribed by the statutes of the State of n3, Ordered this the »1 We, AA. | - Ae AA MT VY A) BR. 1 KR SN AL | Mississippi, and those duties tradi , J tionally and by custom performed by a school principal in the State of Mississippi; that the responsibilities and duties to be performed by the Superintendent of Education of said Durant Municipal Separate School District shall be those prescribed by the statutes of the State of Misslssippi, and those duties J and by custom performed by a Superintendent of Educa- tion in the State of Mississippi. If the Durant Municipal Separate School District grants transfers to students residing outside the district it shall limit such transfers to 25 stu- dents only. day of July, 1970.
