LOUIS WORKING PRESS FROM: ; Jesse DeVore, Director of Public Information RE’ First suit (in Arkansas) asking that’ a dual school system be consolidated by requiring use of replacement facilities in a particular way. (LDF attorneys vs. Gould School District) Attorneys of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) will file a brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in St. Louis, Monday, May 8, in a suit against the Gould school system. The suit asks the court to require a change in ‘the construction plans for the "Negro" replacement facility so that all secondary students would attend the presently all-white Gould High School ("A" accreditation rating, library, laboratory) and all elementary students would attend the new building under construction on the site of the all-Negro Field site. Please keep in mind that the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) is a separate and distinct organization from the NAACP, serving as the legal arm of the entire civil rights movement and representing members of all groups as well as unaffiliated ~ individuals.
