Winston by the District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission for appointment as an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. I have known !1s. Winston since L978 when she worked at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and I was Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General for Civi} Rights, United States Department of Justice. Although I first met Ms. Winston in her profes- sional capacity, I subsequently came to know her personally. Both as a friend and a colleague, I am delighted to be a reference for lls. Winston. !t1s. Winston is a person of integrity and solid good judgment who has a breadth of experience that will serve her well as a judge. Having my- self been in a quasi-judicial position as a Referee in Juvenile Court in Wayne County, Iriichigan, I feel conf ident that tqts. Winston Possesses the matur- ity, the intellect, the balanced perspective, the temperament and the compassion to be a first-rate judge. I urge you to consider seriously her nomina- tion.
