McKinstry said the .will lrot b" l:' 'l'hc Alicevillc City Council voted Monday night to rcduce this Fiscal Year 1983 budget by s70,fi)0 to reduce the $EE,2J4 estimated deficit rhat would have rcsulted from the old budget. At the last council mceting City Manager Tonrmy Mc- Kinstry told the council that Alabama law prohibits a citY council lrom budgeting l0 perccnt more than its anticipated revenues for the year; Aliceville's old budget had a 17 percent deficit. McKinstry said that in rnectings with members of the council, the budSet was cut from $605,234 to $524,5E4. The projected' incomc rcntained the same, of course, at $517,000. The rcsult is a projectcd deficit of $16,5E4. McKinstry did not namc each cut by item' because Councilman RaY Carroll pointcd out that the budgct was open for review by thc public. Carroll made a motion to approve the new budget. Councilwoman "Tiny" Harvey seconded the motion, and it was unani- mously approved (except for Leon Morris who was absent).
