LEGAL DEFENSE FUND TO
DEFEND ALABAMA NARCHERS April 30, 1963
NEW YORK -- Mrs. Constance Baker Motley, Associate Counsel of
the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, announced today that the Fund has
been requested by members of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating
Committee who will resume William Moore's march through Alabama
to defend them if they are prevented from completing the march
because of arrest or other forms of interference.
The march is expected to begin tomorrow from Chattanooga,
Tenn. The Fund has agreed to take whatever legal action may be
required to protect the constitutional rights of the marchers.
