Dear Mr. Herbert:

Thank you for releasing to me some portions of

the Section 5 files regarding the Louisiana Congres-

sional reapportionment. It is my understanding that

you will provide within the next few days the factual
portions of a memorandum prepared by Robert Kwan ,an
attorney in the Voting Section and the portions of

confidential material that can be released without
identifying the source. I am still interested in

receiving the additional information requested in
my December 17, 1982 letter. As you know, we are

scheduled for trial January 31, 1983. Your prompt
response will therefore be appreciated.

Having examined the Section 5 files you made
available thus far, I have been able to identify two

additional items that I need to review. Please
provide the lexitron disc on which it was typed and
the original of the Jund 18, 1982 Memorandum to the
File from Wm. Bradford Reynolds regarding the
Louisiana Congressional reapportionment.

Sincerely,

Lani Guinier
