Lesa,UereuseHu April 3, 1984 The Honorable Damon J. Keith United States Court of Appeals Sixth Circuit Old Federal Building Lafayette Detroit, Michigan 48226 Dear Judge Keith: Thank you for your continuing support and confidence in me. f certainly don't deserve all the wonderful things that seem to be happening recently, but I dont't take the credit personally. I thank you especially for the work you have done in giving young black lawyers, including myself, the unique opportunity of a federal clerkship with an out- standing member of the bar, a dedicated and compassionate judge, and a wonderful human being. The years f clerked for you were one of the happiest, most productive periods in my career. I am sorry I will miss seeing you on my trip to Detroit in Apri}. I will try better next time to find out your schedule in advance. It was good talking with you, as always. Warml-y, Lani- Guinier LG:jj P.S. As I promised, I am sending the article on the employment of blacks in major WaI1 Street firms. I hope you can read the miniscule print.
