In response to Senate Majority Lea 

that the Degpartment of Health, Education and Welfare is 

going too fast in the desegregation of schools and hospitals, 

Jack Greenberg, Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense 

and Educational Fund, will announce a major shift in the 

nationwide legal program now being handled by his New York 

based attorneys plus the Legal Defense Fund's 250 cooperating 

attorneys. Mr. Greenberg will present substantive data to 

document the position that Southern school and hospital 

desegregation is moving at a snail's pace. 

The conference will be held at the Fund office at 10 Columbus 

Circle, Suite 2030, New York City, at 2:00 p.m. today.
