Re: Sheff v. O'Neil}

Dear Dr. Slavin:

This will confirm our conversation in reply to your September
4, 1992, letter to Philip Tegeler. It is my understanding that
your fee of $1500 per day for work done outside Baltimore will
include your preparation time for testifying at trial. In
addition, we will reimburse you for your reasonable travel
expenses. Moreover, for your deposition on October 8, 1992 the
state will pay you at a predetermined rate for the deposition time
and three hours of preparation. Based on prior agreements with the
state, this rate will be in the range of $110 to $150 per hour.

We appreciate your time and effort and your cooperation on
these fee arrangmnts, particularly given the constraints of our
budget.

Very truly yours,
