J. D. Morgan, being duly sworn, deposes and says: 

1. That he is Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for the 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg public schools. 

2. That in its order dated March 6, 1970, the District Court 

requested of the School Board various detailed data and information 

relating to the school transportation, maps showing location of schools and 

similar matters. 

3. This order and its request for information was received by 

the school staff on the morning of Monday, March 9, 1970. Upon receipt 

of these court-ordered requests, I, together with my:staff, immediately 

began work in assembling and preparing the required information, Working 

with me on this project throughout the following week and week-end were 

eleven top level administrative staff together with a number of secretarial 

staff and other personnel, During the period from early morning, Monday, 

March 9, 1970, ‘through noon on Monday, March 16, 1970, this group 

worked night and day -- not only week days but also on Saturday and

Sunday, Maret 14 and 15, 1970, The total number of hours expended by 

this group during this period of time in the preparation of this material 

amounted to an excess of five hundred (500) man hours, 

4, The foregoing tabulation does not include a very considerable 

amount of time spent by Superintendent William C, Self and other members 

of his staff,
