Sept. 27, 1968 A suit was filed against the Freddie Gold Realty Co. in the U.S. District Court in Memphis today by attorneys of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) in behalf of two Negro nurses employed at the medical center. The women charge that they were denied housing which was later granted to a white law student acting as a tester. The LDF is asking for an end of discrimination, $100 nominal damages, $2000 punitive damages, and attorneys fees. A similar suit was filed by LDF attorneys against Margolin Bros. Realty.
