Steve Suitts, Esq. Jim Blacksher, Esq. Prof. Chandler Davidson Dr. Eddie Wi!liams I pass along the tentative agenda of a conference of the American Political Science Association that is meetj-ng in Chicago just prior to Labor Day. I re- ceived the agenda from Leon Weaver, Michigan State University. Professor Weaver is interested in coordinating a Iuncheon meeting between conference participants and voting rights experts and lawyers. (See attached letter of February 2 ) . Please let me hear from you if you think this would be a worth- while endeavor as part of our goal to expand the pool of expert witnesses in voting cases. I am especially interested in whether we would reach any black or hispanic social scientists thls way. ^..::: rorward to hearins rrom ":?. My thought is ttrat we could Iay on at least a lunch or dinner (Outcfr treat) as a fortrm in addition to the panels wtrere acad.emics and actlvlsts could meet and lnterchango. It w111 be too late toget that into the preliminary prcgram, due out in Jr:ne I believe, but if we move expeditiously it might be possible to get it listed in the final proi4ram issued at the convention. I will look forward to hearing fnom you funther.
