Statement by Jack Greenberg, director-counsel NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. March 14, 1969

Russell x, Thompson of Memphis is coming here to see us
on the Reverend Martin Luther King, gr. assassination matter
on his own initiative and at his own expense. We have no
informa t ion upon which to base judgment as to whether he has
any evidence at all of conspiracy, and if he has alleged evidence
of it, whether that evidence is credible,

In view of the fact that this organization represented
Dr. King and still represents the Southern Christian Leadership

riddled with so Many inaccuracies which come from unnamed
sources, that it would be impossible, without going to great
length, to give a boint-by-point refutation. Suffice to say,
apart from the fact that we have agreed to see Mr. Thompson,
virtually every reference in the DAILY NEWS to this organization
