- Say ; Gv Statement by Director-Counsel Jack Greenberg NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) December 11, 1967 Re: Case of Green v y_ School Board of New Kent County, Vi Supreme Court agreed to hear. This is one of a number of cases in which we are asking the courts to look at the substance rather than the form of desegregation plans. So called freedom of choice, by which children select their own schools, which then end up almost all Negro or all white, is a frequently used southern mode of reorganization to meet the Supreme Court's School Segregation decisions. We hope that the courts will | examine the consequences of free Choice and that the decisions will lead to true educational equality.
