RE: John Dillard, el. als., Plantiffs
i VS

Crenshaw County, Alabama, et. Als., Defendants

Case No. 85-T1332-N

Dear Mr. Caver:

We are requesting that boundary lines be extended In

District 5S to Include twenty more familles, of which, eleven
(11> are black and nine (9) are white. The present boundary
lines In District 5, as shown on page 4, are along the
center of Meighan Boulevard or U.S. Highway 431, to the

point which intersects with Florida Avenue, thence runs in a
southwesterly direction along the center line of Florida

Avenue to the point which intersects with Keeling Bend Road;
thence runs In a southeasterly direction along the center of
Keel lng Bend Road to the point which intersects with
Margaret Street.

We are asking that the boundary lines be changed to run
along the center of Meighan Boulevard or U.S. Highway 431 to

the point which intersects with Florida Avenue, thence run
in a southwesterly direction along the center line of
Florida Avenue to the point which intersects that of New

York Avenue, thence run in a southeasterly direction along
the center of New York Avenue with Keeling Bend Road; thence
run in a southeasterly direction along the center of Keeling
Bend Road to the polaL. which intersects with Margaret
Street.

This change would enhance the minority representation in
District 5 more than as presently structured. This change
would add nine (9) white families consisting of seventeen
(17) voters and eleven (11) black families consisting of
twenty-four (24) voters.

I am most appreciative of your consideration of this
request.

Slncerely yours,

Chup lit
Roger Watts, President

Alabama New South Coalition
