Gentlemen:

The attached letter from the Clerk of the 
Supreme Court is self-explanatory.

You have undoubtedly received a copy of 
the Attorney General’s letter of October 5? 
opposing any further extension of time for our 
response. In my telephone conversation with 
Mr. Rodak, he was insistent that we meet the 
October 2 k deadline. After I spelled out in 
greater detail the complicating factors present 
here, he seemed somewhat more receptive to the 
idea of making additional request in the event 
it is not possible to complete the brief within 
the allotted time.
