Dear 1,1r. Sanders :

Your letter of October 10, 1984 was referred to me.
As you probably know, I represent lt{rs. Bozeman and
Mrs. Wilder in federal court on petitions for habeas
corpus. Although the district court granted relief,
the state is appealing to the I1th Circuj-t. I am
extremely eoncerned about the federal investigations
you discuss. Although I do not practice criminal 1aw,
I am interested in learning more about those cases for
which an indictment was returned.

Please keep me informed and, specifically, Iet me know
what role you envision for LDF which ordinarily, and
by virtue of its civil expertise, does not engage in
criminal defense work. I would like to talk with you
at your convenience. Please give me a calI. I hope
we can be supportive.

Lani Guinier
