    Memorandum

November 4, 1985
A)

From: Julius L. Chambers Ff
To: Deborah Fins £/

Confirming our luncheon meeting on November 1, we are committing
the maximum of $40,000 for the Alabama voting case with the
understanding that 1) you will be actively involved in the
trial preparation and trial of the case, including the
examination of witnesses; 2) that you will make sure that the
suit is actively supported by blacks in Alabama; and 3) that
you will have Larry and Jim sign the agreement that you are
getting from Steve Ralston.

If, during the litigation, you think that we should enlarge
the suit and budget more for the case, we will discuss this
before making a commitment.

I hope that you will take an active role in the litigation.

I will talk with Bill Robinson about the Mississippi case
and will get back in touch with you, Lani and Steve shortly.

I understand that you are preparing a letter to go to Larry

to confirm our commitment and conditions in the Alabama case.
