IN SOUTHERN DISTRICT COURT IN JACKSON, MISS, CO-DEFENDANTS, THE INTER} 

NATIONAL PAPER COMPANY AND SEVERAL INTERNATIONAL WORKERS UNIONS, WERE 

CHARGED WITH ENGAGING IN PRACTICES WHICH ARE “INTENDED TO AND HAVE THE 

EFFECT OF RESTRICTING NEGROES TO LOWER PAYING JOBS," SPECIFICALLY, THE 

CHARGES ARE: 1) ARTIFICIAL SENIORITY LINES DRAWN TO LIMIT EMPLOYMENT AND 

PROMOTIONAL OPPCRTUNITIES OF NEGRO EMPLOYEES, 2) INSTITUTION OF A POLICY 

REQUIRING JOB TRANSFER APPLICANTS TO TAKE AND PASS UNPROFESSLONALLY DEVELOPED 

TESTS WHICH HAVE NO REASONABLE RELATIONSHIP TO THE JOB, 3) SEGREGATED LOCKER
