Posy federal district, court in Charlotte, N.C.,
seeking to enforce the Civil Rights Act of 1964,
A suit against Gaston County Dyeing Machine Co. alleges
discrimination in violation of Title VII, the equal employment
section of the Act, The plaintiff, a Negro who was employed by
the firm as a welder for more that four years, alleges his
salary ranged from $1.25 to $1.90 anvhotirowhile white welders
with less experience and qualifi¢ation made from $2.15 to
$2,40 an hour. gee
The other suit, under Title IL, thé public accomodations
section, alleges discrimination by the ‘Coffee Cup’ Restaurant,
Gastonia, N.C. The suit was filed in behalf of three Negroes who
were denied service May 12 and 13. :
