Using the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as a base, a
complaint has been filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D. C.
against the Defense Department and the General Services Atiministration.
The suit which was filed @n Friday, February 62B, by the NAACP
Legal Defense Fund and the Washington Research Project is Hadnott v.
Laird - Kunzig.
The strategy behind this suit is to attempt to force the government,
one of the largest users of paper, th exert pressure on the Pulp and
Paper Industry,j0eradicate its practices of racial discrimination in hiring
and promotions and use of racially biased employment tests.
This suit is the result of six months of intensive research by
the Legal Defense Fund staff peoples and comprises 115 plaintiffs.
