Conrad Harper joined LDF in 1965 after graduating from Harvard Law School. As a staff attorney, he worked on several key desegregation cases and won Daniel v. Paul, the Supreme Court case which gave an expansive meaning to the public accommodations section of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. After leaving LDF in 1971, Harper joined Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he later became a partner. Remaining committed to service, Harper promoted common law reform as a member of the American Law Institute Council and worked to increase diversity within the legal profession while serving as president of the New York City Bar Association.
