Dear Mr. Harkins: f

In accordance with our telephone conversation

of November 5, 1981 as described in your letter

of the same date, I am transmitting herewith a

check in the amount of $3,000.00 payable to HKB
Associates, described by you to Leslie J. Winner, Esq.,
and confirmed in your letter of October 20, 1981 to

Ms. Winner.

In accordance with our agreement, you have trans-
mitted your request for payment #1. Although
payment as requested is included herein, the request
for payment #1 omits any description of the services
for which the payment is made. For our records, it
is necessary to have the request for payment include
a description of the underlying work. Please also
forward a copy of the request for payment to Ms.
Winner.

I regret the delay in forwarding this check to you.
I thank you, however, for your splendid cooperation.

Jack Greenberg has approved an overall payment of $14,025 9
for computer work to HKB Associates, 203 West Weaver Street,
Carboro, North Carolina 27510 in connection with Singles v.

Edmisten, a reapportionment case brought by Julius Chambers.
A payment schedule is listed below: i

Jack Greenberg has approved the first payment. With this memo-
randum, I am asning his approval of the remaining pay-outs as
scheduled above.
