GREENVILLE--LEGAL DEFENSE FUND ATTORNEY MARIAN WRIGHT WILL APPEAR BEFORE 

FEDERAL COURT JUDGE CLAUDE F, CLAYTON AT 11:00 A.M. ON THURSDAY, OCT. 27, 

TO SEEK AN ORDER RESTRAINING THE CITY OF GRENADA, MISS, AND THE MISS. 

STATE POLICE FROM ARRESTING AND INTIMLDATING NEGRO DEMONSTRATORS. ATTORNEY 

WRIGHT WILL APPEAR ON BEHALF OF 280 NEGRO CHILDREN AND PARENTS WHO HAVE 

BEEN ARRESTED IN GRENADA, MISS., FOR PROTESTING THE HARASSMENT BY SCHOOL 

OFFICIALS OF NEGRO CHILDREN ATTENDING THE NEWLY DESEGREGATED SCHOOLS IN 

GRENADA, THE CHILDREN, AGE 12 AND OVER, HAVE BEEN SCATTERED TO PRISONS 

THROUGHOUT NORTHERN MISS, AND HAVE NOT BEEN PERMITTED TO SEE THEIR 

ATTORNEYS. FIVE SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE STAFF MEMBERS 

ARRESTED WITH THE CHILDREN WERE SEVERELY BEATEN BY MEMBERS OF THE MISS. 

HIGHWAY PATROL WHILE IN JAIL, BAIL FOR THE CHILDREN AND PARENTS HAS 

BEEN SET AT A LEVEL WHICH THEY CANNOT MEET.
