SPECIAL REFERENDUM ON CHANGE IN FORM
OF GOVERNMENT IN CITY OF GREENSBORO,
NORTH CAROLINA
MAY 6, 1980

Shall the ordinance adopting a change in the form
of government for the City of Greensboro as set
forth below be approved?
The city council shall consist of nine members
who shall serve for a term of two years. The
city shall be divided into six electoral dis-
tricts with one member of the city council
elected from each district; these six members of
the city council shall be apportioned to the six
districts so that each member represents, as
nearly as possible, the same number of persons.
The qualified voters of each district shall
nominate and elect a candidate who resides in
the district for the seat apportioned to that
district. There shall be three members of the
city council apportioned to the city at large.
All the qualified voters of the city shall
nominate and elect candidates for the three
seats apportioned to the city at large. There
~\ shall be a mayor who shall be elected separate-

ly and at large by all the qualified voters of
the city for a term of two years. He shall
have a vote on all council matters.
