MEMORANDUM

The North Carolina Reapportionment Group

Steve Suitts DATE: February 11, 1982

Possible Changes in the Proposed House District
for Mecklenberg County

In the event that we will ever have an opportunity to put before
some decision-making forum a single-nember district plan for Mecklenberg
County, I am forwarding to you some proposed changes in our House plan
relating to Mecklenberg County. As you will see by the maps, these
changes would increase the 56.8t proposed district to 62,.L? while
reducing the 69.9t black district to 64.82.

I also want to remind you that we will be convening in Julius
Chambersr offices on Wednesday, February L7, at 2:00 p.m. in the
afternoon. Leslie Winner suggests that those of us from out of town
plan to return home by the latest flights available on Wednesday
evening.

I look to see you next week.
