NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund 16th Floor 99 Hudson Street New York, NY 10013 Dear Lani: It was a pleasure seeing you last month at the Davis oral argument. I have to admit thaE I do not think either side did a stellar job. We are anxiously awaiting the decision in that case. I was recently going through some notes and came across an article on the Mississippi dual primary case, and realized that I had lost Erack of the case. I am trying to find out, what, if anything, has happened in that litigation, but am not sure where to look. I was wondering if you, or someone in your organization, might have some up-to-date informaEion on the status of the case. I would be grateful for any leads. When I sarn you at the hearing, we briefly discussed geEting together with your Washington representative to discuss, generally, the emergence of common interests for both our organizations in much of the litigation Ehat has arisen lately. Perhaps the next tlme you are in Washington we can get together for lunch in that regard. Best of luck in the upcoming argunent in Gingles. Michael A. Hess MAH: Jd Sincerely, Dwight D.
