court that an extension is needed for the following reasonss
(1) That the Cavanagh plaintiffs' Motion for Summary
Judgment and supporting memorandum took more than the assumed
three days to reach all parties entitred to service thereof;
(21 That the period during which Defendants have had
the opportunity to work on their response and cross-motion
has included the Christmas and New yearrs holidays;
(3) That the need for coordination and mailing documents
between Washington counsel and the Office of the Attorney
General of North Carolina has consrunmed additional time; and
(4) That certain technical difficulties have arisen.
Attorneys for Plaintiffs in Cavanagh consent to the
extension requested herein.
WHEREFORE, the Defendants request the court to grant
an extension of time through and to Wednesday, January 19, 1983,
for the Defendants to file a Response to Motion for Summary
Judgment, a cross-motion for sunmary judgrment, and a support-
ing memorandum.
